So where do I even begin with this film?

When we first heard about this wedding in Ficksburg, we were so excited to capture a film in this gorgeous location.

Little did we know that both Don and Robyn have had a very tough year. Both of them lost several close family members during 2023 and 2024. Without these important people by their side, they paid a special tribute to them throughout the wedding, through photos, and by drinking a beer on Robyn’s brother, Even, on the mountain. Don’s mum was also diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer in the same year, and it was one of her wishes to attend her son’s wedding…

Part 1 of the film is thus a tribute . To the ones Robyn and Don held dear, and have lost in the past year.

Part 2 is the wedding celebration. Although they’re split in the film, they still are still part of the same DNA. And as Don mentioned to Robyn in the end.

“Through the storms and sunshine, through the joys and sorrow, I shall stand here, not just as two souls in love; but as as testament to the strength of love. Even in the face of loss.”
